Porsche Key Systems
Porsche vehicles use a key system built on the VAG platform but with Porsche-specific calibrations, encryption, and security protocols. The Cayenne, Panamera, Macan, 911 (991/992), Boxster/Cayman (981/718), and Taycan each use Porsche's smart key system that enables keyless entry, push-button start, and remote functions.
Porsche keys are distinctive — they feature the signature Porsche shape and are designed as premium accessories. Inside, they contain advanced transponder electronics, a radio transmitter for remote functions, and proximity detection for keyless entry.
Programming Porsche keys requires PIWIS (Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System) — the same diagnostic platform used by Porsche dealerships. Universal locksmith tools cannot access Porsche's security system. We maintain current PIWIS hardware and software for all Porsche key programming needs.
Porsche Models We Service
We provide key replacement and programming for every Porsche model including the Cayenne (all generations — the most common Porsche in Fort Worth), Panamera, Macan, 911 (991 and 992 generations), Boxster/Cayman (981 and 718), and Taycan (electric).
Each model uses Porsche's smart key system with slight variations in key design and security protocols. The Cayenne shares some architecture with the Audi Q7 and VW Touareg, while the Panamera, 911, and Macan have more Porsche-specific implementations. The Taycan uses the latest generation of Porsche key technology.
Regardless of the model, our PIWIS diagnostic tools handle all Porsche key programming operations including spare key addition, all-keys-lost programming, key deletion (removing lost keys from the system), and module programming after replacement.
Porsche All Keys Lost
Losing all keys to a Porsche is a particularly expensive situation at the dealership. Porsche dealer key replacement can cost $500-$1,000+ per key, plus $200-$500 in programming fees, plus towing costs. With multiple keys needed, the total can easily exceed $2,000.
Our mobile service eliminates the tow cost entirely and provides competitive pricing for the keys and programming. We arrive at your Porsche's location with PIWIS diagnostic tools, connect to the vehicle, access the security system, generate new key data, cut the emergency blade, program the smart key, and verify all functions.
All-keys-lost Porsche programming typically takes 1.5-3 hours depending on the model and generation. We recommend programming two keys during the visit to prevent future all-keys-lost situations.
Porsche Key Battery and Maintenance
Porsche smart keys use a rechargeable battery that charges when the key is in the ignition slot (older models) or via inductive charging (newer models with key tray). If the key battery dies, the vehicle will display a low battery warning and eventually the key will stop being detected.
For Porsche keys with non-rechargeable batteries, we can replace the battery on-site. For keys with rechargeable batteries that no longer hold a charge, the key itself may need replacement.
If your Porsche key is working but showing reduced range or requiring multiple button presses, the battery is likely the issue. We can test the key's signal output and battery voltage to determine if a simple battery service will resolve the problem or if reprogramming is needed.
